Welcome to Native Food & Wine. In the spring of 2009 we set out on a journey to learn about unique production methods, environmentally responsible solutions and the diverse ways food & wine are appreciated around the world. So far our travels have taken us to many US states, New Zealand, Australia and now Italy. In the coming months we’ll be traveling in Tuscany and the surrounding area. Coconut Rice

2 cups light coconut milk
2 cups water
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups jasmine rice

Bring everything but the rice to a boil in sauce pan with a tight fitting lid. Add rice. Stir. Lower heat and simmer, covered for 18 minutes. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
