Welcome. Native Food & Wine was created for the intelligent individual who wants to better understand where what they eat and drink comes from. We travel the world to research and record the many cultural and historical aspects that contribute to the pleasures we experience at the table. We share our knowledge and experience with you in the form of content-rich, feature-length stories, photography and recipes. We hope you’ll join us in an exploration of the origins of food and wine. Native Food & Wine was started in 2009 by Amber Share and Kevin Lynch who combine their 30 years experience in food, wine and cultural history to produce this site. We love to learn how people around the world are growing food, how they eat, drink and cook, what their stories are and what their lives are like. We tend to focus on Mediterranean countries, because we share a love for their cultures and cuisines, though we do try to get out and see what the rest of the world is doing as well. We recently spent 14 months traveling the world interviewing food and wine producers. A lot of that work can be seen and read here on Native Food & Wine. In addition to this site and our freelance work we also teach classes and Kevin provides wine cellar stocking.

KEVIN LYNCH is a certified sommelier through the Court of the Master Sommelier and a freelance writer. His many articles on wine, food and travel have appeared in print or online in national and international magazines such as Wine Enthushaist, Caviar Affair, and American Express Publication's Cellar— Fine Wines. He also has a national column as the International Wine Examiner and is a regular contributor to the Wine Club website based in Kolkata India. After completing his graduate work in Art History at the University of Salzburg, Austria, Kevin moved to the Bay Area where he got his start in the food and beverage industry. He has worked for James Beard award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins and at Michelin starred Bouchon Bistro in the Napa Valley. He has resided in Chicago, New York City, Paris, France and Florence, Italy. Kevin is an avid swimmer and plays guitar and drums. Currently Kevin is working on an article for Sommelier Journal and on a book about Tuscan history, food, wine, and culture.

AMBER SHARE is a certified wine professional with a degree in culinary arts and a certificate in graphic design. She has recently returned to school to study botany, microbiology and winemaking.

Her career began with ten years in the restaurant industry followed by training in graphic design and work as a photo shoot coordinator and designer before returning to the world of food and wine. She worked one year in a wine cellar and and one in a wine lab and then went on to pursue a formal education in the culinary arts. In 2007 she graduated from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts with the title of Professional Chef and in 2009 earned the foundation level Certified Wine Professional I title from The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, Napa Valley, California.

Intending to learn more about cultural context of food and dining in Western Europe Amber recently spent 8 months in Italy and France and came away completely inspired by Mediterranean agriculture. She works part time as a cooking teacher and freelance photographer while continuing her studies.
